Harrogate and Craven Girls League Announces Inaugural Cliff Trotter Volunteer of the Year Award Winner

Skipton, July 22, 2024 – The Harrogate and Craven Girls League proudly announces Anita Hoggarth of Skipton Town Juniors as the inaugural recipient of the Cliff Trotter Volunteer of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season. This prestigious award, named in honor of the esteemed Cliff Trotter, recognizes outstanding dedication and contribution in the realm of youth football.

Anita Hoggarth’s tireless commitment to girls’ football has been a beacon of excellence in the Craven area for nearly two decades. For 19 years, Anita has been at the heart of Skipton Juniors, building and nurturing teams across all age groups, from age 6 through to open-age women's football. Her unwavering passion and dedication have made a profound impact on countless players and coaches.

Since establishing the girls’ section of Skipton Juniors FC over a decade ago, Anita has seen the program flourish from a single team into a thriving league of seven teams. Her extensive experience and commitment have been instrumental in fostering the growth of junior football across Skipton and its surrounding villages. Anita has been a cornerstone of the club, offering stability and guidance through numerous changes in coaches and players.

A valued figure in the football community, Anita’s influence extends beyond Skipton Juniors. Her proactive efforts in promoting junior football across local primary schools have been pivotal in encouraging young girls to participate in the sport. Moreover, her leadership in the Wildcats (FA-backed) girls introductory program each year has set a high standard for nurturing new talent.

Anita's contributions have not gone unnoticed by her peers. As one coach from Barnoldswick Town Juniors commented, “Although I am not directly involved with Skipton Juniors, I have always had a good relationship with Anita. Her dedication and the positive impact she’s had on the community and players alike are truly commendable. It’s a great loss to the club that she is moving away, and she will be sorely missed.”

As Anita prepares to retire and move from the area in July, the void left by her departure will be deeply felt by both the club and the wider community. The Harrogate and Craven Girls League is honored to present her with the Cliff Trotter Volunteer of the Year Award, celebrating her extraordinary service and lasting legacy in girls’ football.

Anita Hoggarth’s remarkable contributions exemplify the spirit of volunteerism and the positive impact one individual can have on a community. Her dedication to fostering young talent and promoting women’s football will continue to inspire for years to come.
